Wholesale Upgrade For Missouri Drought Monitor

The groundhog’s burrow has more moisture, resulting in a widespread upgrade for much of Missouri in this week’s Drought Monitor. Just 15.1 percent of Missouri is in moderate drought, a 39.3 point drop in the past week alone to the lowest level in nine months. Severe drought is no longer present in the state for the first time in almost ten months, as the two patches of severe drought were upgraded to moderate. Abnormal dryness accounts for 35.6 percent of the state. In the past week all or part of 57 counties returned to normal or excess moisture.
