A victim has been identified in Monday’s homicide in Fayette, and one person is in custody. At 1:30 pm Monday, Fayette police officers found 29-year old John Turner of Poplar Bluff dead inside a vehicle from an apparent gunshot wound. The vehicle was found parked in the 200 block of South Linn Street. Upon arrival officers received reports of a possible suspect running from the area. According to on-line records, and a media release from the Mid-Missouri Major Case Squad, 21-year-old Alfredo Damario Hicks, Jr. of Fayette, was booked into the Howard County Jail in Fayette Tuesday, just before 9pm. He is being held on a 24 hour investigative hold for First Degree Murder. The arrest was made by the Fayette Police Department. An autopsy of Turner’s body is scheduled for Thursday at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. The investigation is being led by the Fayette Police Department, and is being assisted by the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Mid-Missouri Major Case Squad.
