Salisbury Repeats as District Champions; Van-Far Takes Second

The Salisbury Panthers used balanced play between their five golfers to claim a repeat Class 1 District 2 boys golf championship Friday at Heritage Hills Golf Course in Moberly. The team matched last year’s score with a 326. Nolan Gordon led the effort with a 78 to finish second. Coach Kenny Wyatt said Gordon had to overcome a slow start.

Salisbury’s five golfers were separated by nine strokes. Cooper Francis had an 81, Elliot Carter followed with an 83, Owen Hamilton carded an 84 and Jace Carter finished with an 87. Wyatt said Gordon led a similar formula to last season.

Canton’s Trevor Biggerstaff captured the individual title with a 76. Van-Far’s Pacey Reading finished third with a 79. Reading’s efforts helped lift the Indians to a second place finish and a trip to next week’s Class 1 State Tournament. Coach Pat Connaway…

Kaleb Baskett had the second best score for the Indians with a 90. The Class 1 State Tournament will be held May 13th and 14th at Twin Hills Golf and County Club in Joplin.
