Three Injured in Macon County Horse and Buggy Accident

Three people were injured in a Macon County accident involving a horse and buggy. The accident occurred just before 8:30 Sunday morning on Highway 63, five miles south of Macon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, an SUV driven by 19-year-old Sarah Dowling of Moberly rear-ended a horse-drawn buggy operated by 24-year-old Rueben Schwartz of Macon. Dowling’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and overturned. The buggy came to rest in the road. Both Schwartz and his passenger, 24-year-old Laura May Schwartz suffered serious injuries. Both were airlifted to Columbia. Dowling sustained minor injuries in the accident.
