A number of bills early in the 2021 Missouri Legislative Session have dealt with children. These bills have included focusing on adoption and education. Cheri Toalson Reisch, a member of the House Elementary and Secondary Education Committee, says one area of focus has been on school choice.

The goal of these pieces of legislation is to give parents in larger and underprivileged areas more education options. While the goal is to provide more education options, Toalson Reisch says charter school expansion isn’t being considered right now in the House.

An omnibus package dealing with charter school expansion is being considered over in the Missouri Senate at this time.
