No One Hurt In Huntsville Fire

No one was hurt in the fire in downtown Huntsville Thursday morning, but one residence is a total loss. Randolph County Emergency Management Director David Gaines says the fire started around 2:45 in a residence connected to several businesses. A man and woman living there, and their dog and cat, were able to get out safely.

The fire was under control about 9 this morning. Gaines says about three dozen firefighters from nearby departments, along with utility and MoDOT crews, and law enforcement from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department and State Highway Patrol all responded to the scene. Gaines said the weather made fighting the fire more difficult, as temperatures dropped from around 30 to the low single digits, and the wind increased.

No cause has been released yet, but an investigator from the state fire marshal’s office is at the scene.
