Missouri’s Congressional Delegation Stresses Energy Independence

Fresh off their votes against the Inflation Reduction Act, Republican members of Missouri’s congressional delegation expressed their disapproval of several of the measure’s green energy provisions during an event Thursday morning hosted by Missouri Farm Bureau on the state fairgrounds.  West Central Missouri Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler said the Biden Administration’s energy policy is contributing to higher input prices for farmers, resulting in historically high inflation.

Hartzler chided supporters of the “Green New Deal”, suggesting that the provisions encourage production overseas that isn’t as clean.

Republican Vicky Hartzler has represented Missouri on the House Agriculture Committee since first being elected to Congress in 2011.  She announced Thursday that she would like to see Mark Alford, the Republican candidate vying to succeed Hartzler in the fourth district, join the committee.
