Missourians Encouraged to Donate to Share the Harvest Program During Deer Season

The Missouri Archery Deer Season got underway Thursday. Missourians who harvest deer in the coming months are once again encouraged to participate in the state’s Share the Harvest program. Monroe County conservation agent Jessica Filla (Fill-uh) explains how hunters can donate their surplus deer meat.

Filla adds meat processors are available across the state to donate.

Processors can be found online at mdc.mo.gov by searching for Share the Harvest. Filla says the donation process changes a bit if your county is in the Chronic Wasting Disease Management Zone.

Missouri’s Share the Harvest program dates back to 1992. Since its inception nearly five-million pounds of venison have been donated to local food pantries.
