Missouri House Committee Discusses Bills Dealing With Randolph County Animal Waste Basin

Last month, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources stopped a proposed animal waste basin near Jacksonville after local residents protested citing environmental concerns. Representative Tim Taylor of Bunceton says the House Committee on Conservation and Natural Resources is hearing two bills related to such projects.

Taylor is the Vice-Chair of that committee. Both bills were filed by Representative Ed Lewis of Moberly. The committee meeting included a representative from the owner of the animal waste basin, Denali.

Up to 60 different companies were expected to send products to Denali to be dispensed in the animal waste basin. Further hearings on Lewis’s bills are expected in the coming weeks.
