The Mexico City Council Monday approved applying for a Missouri Main Street Empowerment Grant. City Manager Bruce Slagle says the city has talked for years about revitalizing the downtown.
Slagle says the goal would be to draw in both local traffic and tourists to the downtown area.
Missouri MainStreet Connection will provide technical assistance and training. Using ARPA funds, the city will provide a 40 percent match for the cost of the training for a community organization to start the program locally.
