The Macon R-1 School District has announced they are canceling the second session of summer school due to low attendance. The district’s normal summer school enrollment is around 400 students. The district had just 100 students enrolled in both the first and second sessions of summer school this year. A total of 76 students are enrolled in both sessions. Less than 70 students have been attending summer classes this week. The district had hoped to have two sessions with approximately 150 students in each session. As a result of this low attendance, the district has made the decision to cancel the rest of summer school as a cost-saving measure.
