In a news conference Tuesday night, Columbia and MU Health officials announced the first confirmed positive case of COVID-19 in Boone County. The individual is a elderly woman who recently traveled outside of the United States. Officials say she is modeling good behavior and staying isolated at home, and officials are in communication with anyone that has been in close contact with her.

City officials also went on to say they are limiting public gatherings to 50 people or fewer where is feasible to do so, and asked that the community practice social distancing along with continuing everyday common practices to prevent spread of disease.
