Cattlemen Leader Credits Community Support For Landing New Packing Plant
Monday’s groundbreaking of the future America’s Heartland Packing plant in eastern Warren County highlighted not just the next step in filling a need in Missouri’s cattle industry, but also the community effort taken to bring the facility to the region. Mike Deering, executive vice president of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association, credited Warren County leaders for quickly recognizing the plant’s economic potential.
Deering added that efforts to build public support were shaped by the unsuccessful project to build a feedlot and processing plant east of Lee’s Summit four years ago.
America’s Heartland Packing will be operated by American Foods Group of Green Bay, Wisconsin. The plant is expected to support 1300 jobs and process 2400 head of cattle per day when it opens by the end of 2024.
