Basye Wins Relection, Handling NEA is High Priority

Republican Representative Chuck Basye won reelection of District 47 over Democrat challenger Adrian Plank with 57 percent of the vote. The Rocheport native will enter his final term in 2021.

Basye faced a challenge by Plank, but ended up widening his margin by almost one precent from 2018. Basye says a big reason for the increase in margin is an increased rural vote.

Education will remain a focus for Basye, and one of his upcoming priorities is to keep the National Education Association in check.

Basye was the chair of the house elementary and secondary education committee last session.
