Work is set to begin on a skate park in Walt Disney Park in Marceline in the coming weeks. The non-profit organization, Parks Work, is in charge of the project. Marceline City Manager Richard Hoon says a cooperative agreement was signed between the two parties during this month’s city council meeting.

The skate park is expected to be open by mid-spring. Parks Work is also looking at a second project in Walt Disney Park. Hoon details the plan.

Early plans for the Walt Disney Park project call for the current basketball court to be broken down and for a new surface to be built in its place. No timeline has been given on when the grant application will be accepted.
