Truman CB and Returner Woods Aims to Follow Fellow Bulldog Thomas Into Pros

Brodric Thomas made the jump from Division II to the NBA. Now, another Truman State University athlete is taking his shot at the pros. Bulldog football cornerback and kick returner Lawrence Woods says Thomas making the Houston Rockets roster inspires him.

Woods played in the Tropical Bowl on January 17th. The rosters featured a majority of Division I seniors.

Scouts from 30 NFL and CFL teams were in attendance. Woods then left for Dallas.

Woods’ time in a Truman State uniform was cut short. Midway through his junior season in 2019, he suffered a knee injury.

Then, Woods was denied an opportunity to play in the fall of 2020 by the pandemic. Rather than join Truman for an abbreviated four-game schedule in April, he hopes to hear his name called on NFL Draft weekend. Woods hopes to have a Pro Day scheduled at Stokes Stadium in the coming weeks, possibly on a Friday before a Truman football game.
