Westran Hosts Fayette in Early Conference Clash

The Westran Hornets open their Lewis & Clark Conference schedule Friday night when they host the Fayette Falcons. Both teams come in with 2-1 records. Westran is coming off a 36-20 victory over Class 4 Fulton. Head coach Andrew Baxley says that win can be a momentum builder.

Sophomore quarterback Gage Adler went 14-19 passing for 220 yards and a touchdown in last week’s victory. Baxley says the Hornet defense will have a challenge with Fayette’s offense, particularly sophomore running back Carter Vroman.

The Falcons are coming off a 36-35 win over Scotland County to open conference play last week. The game ended with Jacob Wood blocking a potential game-winning field goal by Scotland County. Fayette coach Kole Hinton says that was a big win for a young team.

Fayette defeated Westran 21-18 last season. Hinton feels this is another even matchup between the two teams.

Pregame coverage on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com will begin at 6:40 pm. Colin Schowe will have the play-by-play.
