USDA Increases Livestock Indemnity Payment Rate

USDA announced an increase to the payment rate per head for producers who lost certain livestock because of drought or excessive heat.  Missouri FSA Executive Director Joe Aull says the increased rate applies to cattle that weighed at least 800 pounds.

Aull says the Livestock Indemnity Program normally covers up to 75 percent of the value of losses that exceed normal livestock death rates.

Aull explains how a producer’s losses are verified.

Additional details about the Livestock Indemnity Program are available through your local USDA Service Center.
