USB, NCGA Climate-Smart Initiative Formally Funded

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack joined leaders from three commodity groups Friday for a public signing ceremony, formally funding one of the department’s largest climate-smart grants.  The ceremony took place at Commodity Classic in Orlando, issuing the 90 million dollar grant to the United Soybean Board, National Corn Growers Association, National Pork Board, and additional partners for their “Farmers for Soil Health” initiative.  USB was represented by chairwoman Meagan Kaiser of Northeast Missouri’s Bowling Green.

Kaiser says the grant is an opportunity to connect farmers with consumers.

Details about the Farmers for Soil Health initiative are available on a dedicated website supported by the three commodity groups.
