Truman Women Win A Wild One-Bulldog Men’s Winning Streak Is Stopped

The Truman women won a wild one, while the men had their six-game winning streak snapped in a split with Illinois-Springfield last night (Thur.).

The Bulldog women had six players score in double figures, in a 97-82 victory. Bailey Kliewer had back-to-back hoops to help Truman get out to a 27-20 start after one quarter…..

The Bulldogs went 33-of-38 from the free throw line, which tied for the third most single game makes and 19 more than UIS. Ellie Weltha had her tenth double-double of the season with 27 points and 13 rebounds. Claire Rake connected on five triples and scored 18. The Bulldogs improve to 4-15 in the GLVC and 7-18 overall. The Prairie Stars drop to 12-8 in the conference and 14-12 overall.

The Illinois-Springfield men used a 14-1 run from the end of the first half into the second half to take control, in a 74-65 win over Truman. Prairie Stars post Jack Weber scored 13 points and dished out six assists. Coach Jeff Horner said he made it tough on his defense…..

Truman was led by Trey Shearer and Xavier Hall, both with 17. The Bulldogs drop to 10-7 in the GLVC and 13-12 overall. The ‘Dogs are still 3rd in the Point Rating System rankings. UIS improves to 10-8 in the league and 17-11 overall.

It will be Senior Day at Pershing Arena on Saturday when the Bulldogs host Quincy. You can hear a broadcast of the doubleheader on KRES starting at 12:45.
