Truman Teams Finish the Regular Season With a Sweep of SBU

The Truman State basketball teams finished the regular season with a sweep of Southwest Baptist at Pershing Arena today (Sat.).

The 3rd ranked Bulldog men shot 69 percent in the second half and hit 9-of-13 three-pointers to pull away from SBU for a 79-66 victory. Trailing 43-40 with about 14 minutes left, the ‘Dogs went on a 13-0 run…

Brad Boyer with the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Five Bulldogs scored in double figures led by Turner Scott with 17. Coach Jeff Horner said his team closed out the game much stronger than recent outings for their 13th straight win….

The 18-1 Bulldogs will be the number one seed and will have home court advantage in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament next week and will host Indianapolis on Wednesday. UIndy would have been out of the tournament but two seed Southern Indiana opted out. The Bearcats go into the GLVC Tournament as the three seed with a record of 15-6.

The Truman women used a 15-5 third quarter to grind out a 47-41 victory over SBU. The Bulldogs trailed 24-20 early in the third when they scored 11 straight points. Coach Theo Dean said defense carried them and set up the key run…..

Dean got 10 points each from Allison Thomas and Hannah Belanger. The Bulldogs will be the two seed in the GLVC Tournament and will host the first round game with Maryville on Wednesday. SBU wraps up the season 5-14.
