Truman Starts Quick And Pulls Away From Wayne State

Truman State took advantage of two early special teams mistakes by Wayne State and blew out the Warriors 41-7 in Detroit this afternoon (Sat.). Jake Closser recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff and fellow Blair Oaks graduate, Nolan Hair, turned the turnover into a 14 yard touchdown pass to Mason Huskey of Hallsville. After a three-and-out, Wayne State’s punt was blocked giving the Bulldogs the ball at the 12. Hair would cash in on a three-yard run, on 4th and one, to make the score 14-0 just over six minutes into the contest.

Grant Ross connected on a pair of first half field goals sandwiched around a Huskey three-yard touchdown run and Truman led 27-0 at halftime.

Huskey rushed for 115 yards on 14 carries, with the two scores. Hair was 22-of-25 passing for 181 yards. Isaiah Estes of Fayette led the Bulldog defense with seven tackles.

Truman wraps up non-conference play with a record of 4-0. The Bulldogs will have their GLVC opener at McKendree next Saturday. You can hear the game on KRES starting at 12:15.
