Truman State erased a ten-point second half deficit to beat Washburn 62-60 Saturday afternoon and complete a sweep of games at the Ichabods’ Thanksgiving Classic in Topeka. With the game tied at 58, Bulldog sophomore guard Hunter Strait provided what proved to be the game-winner.

Brad Boyer with the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. The Ichabods got a lay-up to cut the lead to one, then fouled Turner Scott with 16 seconds left. He hit one-of-two free throws. After a miss, Washburn got one more chance inbounding from the baseline.

The Bulldogs trailed 49-39 with 12:49 left. Coach Jeff Horner’s team limited Washburn to just 11 points the rest of the way….

Horner got a game-high 29 points from Brodric Thomas, while only 1 other Truman player had more than one field goal and that was two by Alex McQuinn. Thomas scored 61 points in the two games in Topeka. The Bulldogs have won three in a row, all over MIAA teams, including Missouri Southern and Washburn teams picked second and third in that league. The Ichabods drop to 3-3. The Bulldogs are 4-3 heading into their conference opener against Quincy on Tuesday night. You can hear the game on KRES and centralmoinfo.com starting at 5:15.
