Truman Men Assist On All But One Basket In A Win Over McKendree-Bearcat Women Move Back Into 1st Place

The Truman men blitzed McKendree in the first half and held off the Bearcats for an 87-74 victory at Pershing Arena Thursday night. The Bulldogs had early runs of seven and eight in a row to jump out to a 21-6 lead….

Brad Boyer had the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. The Bulldogs had an assist on all 19 field goals made in the first half and led 47-26. The lead grew as large as 25. Truman coach Jeff Horner watched his team assist on 30 of 31 baskets…

The 30 assists is the 6th most in a game in Truman history. The Bulldogs had five players in double figures. Landon Eiland scored 16 and Brennan Lovette and Kobi Williams both added 15. The ‘Dogs improve to 8-11 overall and 5-6 in the GLVC. The Bearcats drop to 10-9 and 4-8 in the conference.

The McKendree women completed a season-sweep of Truman winning 74-61. It was a four-point game at halftime when the Bearcats came out of the locker room and scored the first eight points. Bulldog freshman Molly Joyce scored a game-high 22 points and kept her team in it….

Truman coach Theo Dean said the 20-12 third quarter was the difference…..

Ellie Weltha scored 17 points pushing her above 1,500 points for her career. The Bulldogs drop to 5-14 and 2-11 in the GLVC. With a Lewis loss to Maryville, the McKendree women move back into first place in the GLVC standings at 11-3, a half-game in front of Lewis and Drury. The Bearcats are 15-5.

The Bulldogs will host UMSL Saturday afternoon and the 1999 Truman men’s basketball team will be honored on the 25th anniversary of their Final Four season. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:45 on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com.
