Truman Looks For A Bounce Back Against An Improved Jewell Team On Homecoming

Truman State will look to bounce back when William Jewell comes to Stokes Stadium for a homecoming matchup this Saturday. The 25th ranked Bulldogs lost their first game of the season to undefeated Indianapolis last week. The ‘Dogs missed chances going just 3-of-7 in the red zone. Coach Gregg Nesbitt says execution was lacking….

William Jewell has never had a winning season as a Division II program going back to 2011. At 2-4, the Cardinals have already matched last year’s win total and the program hasn’t had three victories since 2015. Nesbitt says they are much improved….

Jewell is under the direction of interim head coach Neil Linhart. Among his offensive pieces is sophomore A.J. Austene of Hallsville, who has 18 catches for 311 yards and a touchdown….

Truman has its own Hallsville playmaker in Mason Huskey, who leads the team in rushing with 500 yards and touchdowns with 10.

The Cardinals are playing all of their home games at Liberty North High School, while a new stadium project is underway on campus. Coach Linhart gives an update….
