Truman Knocks Off the Screaming Eagles in Evansville-11th Win is the Most in the GLVC

Truman overcame a seven-point deficit in the third quarter to knock off nationally ranked Southern Indiana 73-67 today (Sat.) in Evansville. Hannah Belanger pumped in 26 points, including 8-of-10 free throws in the final two minutes to help the Bulldogs to their 7th straight victory. She had a career-high nine rebounds from the guard spot, as did Katey Klucking, who poured in 20 points. Her fellow Columbia teammate, Maya Mouton, played her most significant minutes of the season and produced five points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

Trailing by seven in the third, the Bulldogs went on a 19-7 run to take the lead for good….

The Screaming Eagles had three players foul out. Their 27 fouls resulted in 37 free throw attempts for the Bulldogs and a 10 point advantage. Truman coach Theo Dean credited his team with putting pressure on the USI defense….

Southern Indiana, who came into the game ranked 11th in the Division II media poll, drops to 10-2. The Bulldogs now have the most wins in the GLVC at 11-2 and split the season series with the Screaming Eagles.

Truman comes off the road to host Indianapolis on Thursday and the men should be cleared to return to action. We will have the doubleheader on KRES starting at 5:00.
