Truman Hosts Senior Night Game Against William Jewell

Truman State football seniors will finally get the spotlight when the Bulldogs host William Jewell Saturday night at Stokes Stadium. Linebacker Reed McBroom of Brookfield, receivers Dante Ruffin and Spencer Newell, offensive lineman Jacob Van Doren, and tight end Camden Sprouse will be honored before the game in a traditional Senior Night ceremony, but also for persevering through a missed fall season.

The Bulldogs opened the April campaign with a 38-20 victory at Southwest Baptist. Coach Gregg Nesbitt said the offense left points on the field, but overall got high marks.

Running backs Cody Schrader and Jaylen Jefferson combined for 199 yards and three touchdowns.

William Jewell scored 21 second-quarter points to lead Missouri S&T 28-14 at halftime, only to fall to the Miners 49-28. Returning Cardinals quarterback Will Schneider had 373 yards of total offense and accounted for three TDs. Coach Nesbitt said his defense will have it’s hands full.

Mike McGlinchey guided the Cardinals through the uncertainties of the pandemic in his first year as head coach. William Jewell football hasn’t won more than two games in a season since 2016. McGlinchey has some simple buildings blocks for the program.

You can hear the William Jewell at Truman game Saturday night on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com starting with the Truman Tailgate at 6:30pm. Brad and Hank will have the call. There will be no general tickets sold to the public. Attendance is being capped at those on the player pass list, Truman students, faculty and staff.

The other GLVC West side pool game will have Southwest Baptist at S&T. The lone East side game has Quincy visiting McKendree.
