Truman Grinds Out A Senior Day Win Over The Peacocks

Nolan Hair scored both touchdowns and Truman overcame a big disadvantage in time of possession to grind out a 14-7 victory over Upper Iowa on Senior Day at Stokes Stadium on Saturday. The Bulldogs ran 33 fewer plays and had the ball 14 fewer minutes, but found a way to win and improve to 8-2.

Ulysses Ross forced a fumble on the Peacocks first possession and Truman only needed three plays to cover 40 yards. Hair scored on a four-yard run. The Bulldog defense kept Upper Iowa off the scoreboard in the second quarter with a big goal line stand……

Brad Boyer with the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. The Peacocks did get the ball back and scored their only touchdown on a nine-yard pass with 26 seconds left before intermission.

Truman got the ball to start the second half and former Blair Oaks High School teammates got a chance on Senior Day to connect one more time in the pass game….

Ben Thomas switched to cornerback as a freshman and it was his first collegiate reception that went for 27 yards. It set up a one-yard sneak by Hair for what would be the winning score. Coach Gregg Nesbitt had an honest assessment of the win….

Upper Iowa drops to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in the GLVC. Truman improves to 4-2 in the league. The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season at Missouri S&T next Saturday and still have a chance at a piece of the conference title. McKendree handed Indianapolis its first loss keeping the door open for the ‘Dogs.
