Three Teams, 47 Individuals Qualify For State Golf Tournament
Four area teams won district golf titles and three qualified for the state tournament Monday. Brookfield qualified in Class 1, Father Tolton in Class 2 and Rock Bridge in Class 4. Helias won the Class 3, District 2 tournament but only had three individuals qualify. Four individuals must place in the Top 18 for a team to qualify this year. Palmyra and Salisbury had three qualify in Class 1 while Jefferson City had three in Class 3. Individual Medalists included Centralia’s ReaLee Smith in Class 1, District 1; Brookfield’s Demi Downey in Class 1, District 3; and Father Tolton’s Audrey Rischer in Class 2, District 2. In total, 47 area golfers qualified for the state tournament.
**Top 18 golfers advance to state. If a school gets four golfers through they can compete as a team at the state tournament. Top two teams do NOT automatically qualify for state this year**
