Third Time a Charm for National Champion Missouri Valley Soccer

The third time was a charm for the Missouri Valley men’s soccer team. Appearing in their third NAIA championship match in four years, the Vikings claimed their first title with a 2-0 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan in Georgia on Monday night.

Vikings head coach Vladimir Simic was asked what he was thinking as those final few seconds ticked off the clock.

With his two goals, Kainen Dos Santos finished the NAIA Tournament with five goals and four assists and was named the most outstanding offensive player. Gianmarco Donnini was named the most outstanding defender and Luka Gluscevic the overall most valuable player. He has been involved in all three final appearances for Missouri Valley.

The Vikings avenged two earlier losses to top ranked CMU in the semifinals to get to the championship match. Valley finished the historic season with a record of 18-4-2.

We thank the voice of the Missouri Valley Vikings, Ken Kujawa for the story.
