Sunday is the 50 Year Anniversary of the April Blizzard

Sunday marks the 50th anniversary of the April blizzard that hit our area on April 9th, 1973. On Party Line, a listener remembered she was a student on the Kirksville campus.

One KWIX Party Liner shared his remembrance of how it impacted workers at the Thomas Hill Power Plant.

The official snowfall total at our Moberly observation station was six inches, but high winds created major drifting and near impossible travel conditions.

Listeners also remembered in the days after the blizzard that melting and heavy rains led to flooding.
