Streamlined Cattle Record-Keeping Could Help Track Key Calf Milestones

Keeping track of your calf crop’s development is key to a cattleman’s profitability this year.  University of Missouri Extension livestock specialist Patrick Davis says that one of the steps farmers can take to improve cattle quality is streamlining their record-keeping process.  Davis suggests farmers implement a simple system for identifying their cattle when collecting data.

Davis identifies three key milestones to collect data points that can help in preparing for future calf crops.

MU Extension livestock specialist Patrick Davis says several Extension offices still have pocket red books available that farmers can use to collect and streamline data on their calves.
