Senator Cindy O’Laughlin met with superintendents and school board presidents from throughout the area Saturday at South Shelby to talk about Senate Bill 55, or the school choice package. Macon School Board President Donny Wyatt, who says they appreciate the Shelbina lawmaker taking time out to visit with them, notes that this bill is evolving.

O’Laughlin says there was one point she wanted to clarify.

According to O’Laughlin, there was agreement on one issue.

Wyatt says a good deal of discussion also centered on charter school expansion.

Senate Bill 55 was debated on the floor for about 12 hours this past week, but a vote was not taken.
