The Missouri Department of Economic Development announced today it has awarded more than $7.9 million through the second round of the Cell Towers Grant Program to improve cell service and 911. The program, funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, is focused on investing in the expansion of cellular service statewide. This round includes 14 new towers, including five towers by the group Branch Towers Six serving 11 central and east central Missouri counties, for more than $3.2 million; and four towers by U.S. Cellular of Greater Missouri, serving eight counties in northeast and south central Missouri, for just over $2 million. The two rounds combined have now totaled more than $20 million.
