Spartans’ Season Ends in Districts at Warrenton

Moberly football’s season ended with a 44-33 loss at Warrenton in the first round of districts Friday. The Spartans grabbed a 13-12 lead with five minutes left in the first half.

McDowell’s Spartans trimmed the deficit to 36-33 with four minutes left in the third quarter.

Brad Boyer with the call of Javaughn Briscoe’s recovery. But Warrior Issaih Jones countered with his fourth rushing touchdown of the night. The senior Jones finished with an unofficial 274 yards on 30 attempts. 3-6 Warrenton next visits Hannibal in the district semifinals. McDowell reflected on Moberly’s 2-8 campaign.

Sophomore Gabe Flood delivered a 16-yard touchdown reception and a kick return touchdown. Gage St. Clair added a seven-yard run. Hear Cody McDowell’s full postgame interview below.
