South Shelby’s Gunterman Recognized as KRES Coach of the Year

The area high school coaches voted South Shelby’s Adam Gunterman as the KRES Football Coach of the Year.

His squad went from a winless season his first year in 2020, to this year being South Shelby’s first undefeated regular season since 2000.

Gunterman is the fifth Cardinals coach to be recognized as the KRES Coach of the Year. Previous winners were Jim Grasdorf in 1975, John Morris in 1990, Kent O’Laughlin in 2005 and 2006, and the school’s current athletic and activities director, Rob Wilt in 2011.

South Shelby went 10-1 this fall, losing in the district championship to Bowling Green.
