South Callaway Knocks Off Monroe City

The South Callaway girls overwhelmed Monroe City 74-59 to take home the Class 3 District 7 title Friday.

South Callaway extended a 14 point halftime lead to 19 early in the third quarter before Monroe City scored 10 unanswered. Haliee Potter had an emphatic answer to the run.

The Lady Bulldogs held Monroe City post players Riley Quinn and Haley Hagan to a combined 12 points in the first half.

South Callaway’s Paige Clubb had a game-high 27 points. Delaney Horstman put in 19 and Raegan Brown had 18. Monroe City coach Cody Leonard said the opposition was just too talented.

Monroe City ends its season at 23-3. Leonard said he was thrilled with his team’s success one year after assistant coach Jamar White’s death.

Riley Quinn finished the game with 24 points. Hallie Dyer scored 20. South Callaway advances to 19-2 and will play the winner of Tipton vs Linn in sectionals.
