Shelbyville Woman Arrested for Acting as North Shelby School Nurse

A Shelbyville woman is in custody after being arrested Monday for acting as a nurse for the North Shelby School District. Superintendent Tinna Croy says Sara Adams was hired as the school nurse at the August 17th board meeting with the contingency that she would provide paperwork for the district.

Adams worked at the school for four days before her arrest. Croy says speculation began after Adams did not provide the paperwork the school required after a few days.

An investigation from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office revealed Adams was using someone else’s name and license. Adams gave the school a fake online nursing license during her application. A search process is underway to fill the nurse position. Croy says adjustments will be made to the application process.

Adams was charged with identity theft and forgery. Lauren Gander, who served as North Shelby’s nurse prior to this year, is filling in as the school’s nurse until a full-time replacement is found.
