Salisbury Softball Coach Nate King Reflects on Hall of Fame Induction

Current Salisbury softball and baseball coach Nate King was part of the 2022 class of the Missouri High School Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame. King has compiled a career record of 434-171 over the course of his softball coaching career. He says the most rewarding aspect of coaching is seeing how the kids grow as people.

King was joined by longtime Schuyler County softball coach Steve Stock among this year’s inductees. King says this type of event allows for reflection about coaches’ careers.

King has compiled a record of 145-33 during his time as Salisbury softball coach. Other coaching stops were short stints at Cairo and Sturgeon along with a 13-year tenure at Hallsville, prior to his arrival at Salisbury. King says there’s one particular lesson he’s learned over the years.

The Lady Panthers won the 2019 Class 1 State Championship under King. They finished fourth in the state this past fall with a record of 16-12. King is also the head baseball coach at Salisbury. The team went 16-5 last season under King and won their first district title since 2009.
