Salisbury Falls to Weaubleau in State Semis

The Salisbury Panthers fell to the Weaubleau Tigers 70-61 in a Class 2 semifinal Wednesday. The Panthers raced out to an early lead thanks to Cooper Francis.

Austin Ward with the calls on KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Salisbury led by 13 midway through the second quarter. The Tigers responded with 12 straight points and eventually took the lead in the third quarter. Weaubleau trailed 45-44 after three, powered by Gage Johnson knocking down three triples and scoring 15 points in the frame. He stayed hot in the fourth.

Johnson finished with a game-high 39 points. Salisbury trailed by 12 with 1:15 left and cut the deficit in half but the Tigers iced the game with free throws. Coach Kenny Wyatt…

Francis closed with 31 points for the 28-3 Panthers and Mason Stapleton scored 21.

For 3rd Salisbury will play South Pemiscot, who fell to Hartville 44-27.
