Rockett Leads Late Rally to Send Higbee to Show-Me Showdown

The Higbee Tigers overcame a six-point deficit late in the fourth quarter to defeat the Green City Gophers 45-38 in a Class 1 Quarterfinal at Glasgow High School. Trailing late in the fourth quarter, Higbee turned to freshman Derek Rockett to push them in front.

Colin Schowe with the calls on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Rockett scored ten of his game-high 14 points in the fourth quarter, which included going 4-6 of from the free throw line to help close the game out. Higbee coach Tanner Burton said his team refused to lose against Green City.

Jordan Fuemmeler and Jamie Smith added ten points apiece as Higbee advanced to the Show-Me Showdown for the first time ever. Burton said he’s thrilled his young team has reached this point of the season.

Green City was led by Laydon Fields with 18 points in the game, including the lone three-pointer late in the fourth quarter. Aaron Peavler added ten points as the Gophers conclude the season with a record of 25-5. Green City graduates two seniors in Tristian Herschberger and Chris Barto.
