Several law enforcement agencies are continuing to investigate a reported road rage incident, that took place early Monday morning, February 15. According to the Chariton County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 12:34am Monday, February 15, 2021, Troop B of the Highway Patrol contacted Chariton County 911 advising them of an incident in Chariton County on U.S. Highway 24 near the Chariton/Randolph county line. An individual called 911 to report an alleged road rage incident. Chariton County 911 dispatched deputies to respond to the incident, along with the Chariton County Ambulance District. Prior to the arrival of law enforcement, one person was struck by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 24. The subject struck by the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported to the University Hospital by Chariton County Ambulance. This incident is believed to have started in Randolph county. This is an active investigation and further information cannot be released at this time. Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be turned over to the Chariton County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
