Representative Toalson Reisch Disappointed in Senate’s Version of Trans Bills

The Republican-controlled Missouri Legislature passed two transgender bills last week. Senate Bill 49 bans doctors from prescribing or giving cross-sex hormones and puberty-blocking drugs to any person under the age of 18. House Bill 39 bans transgender girls from playing on girls’ sports teams through college. Despite being a supporter of both bills, Representative Cheri Toalson Reisch had an issue with their passage.

Both bills would expire in 2027 following revisions by the Senate. Toalson Reisch says she was disappointed by the Senate’s concession.

Governor Mike Parson is expected to sign both bills.
