Randolph County Health Department Considering Joint Ordinance Regarding Proposed Animal Waste Facility

A proposed animal waste facility near Jacksonville now has the attention of the Randolph County Health Department. Administrator Sharon Whisenand says the facility was discussed at this week’s board meeting.

The Randolph County Commission previously passed a solid waste ordinance prohibiting any solid waste dumping site within one mile of a residence and within two miles of any city or village. Whisenand says the joint ordinance is similar in nature.

Whisenand says the department’s role would be enforcement.

The Randolph County Health Department could approve the joint ordinance as early as its next meeting on October 24th. A special meeting could take place sooner.
