Parson Declares Drought Alert, Directs State Agencies To Respond

Intensifying drought conditions across central and southern Missouri have prompted Governor Mike Parson to issue an executive order mobilizing state agencies in response.  In his order announced Thursday afternoon, Parson highlighted the critical position that farmers, particularly corn growers and livestock producers, are in at this time of year.

Parson declared a drought alert for 53 counties, including Boone, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau, and Saline, and directed the Department of Natural Resources to take the lead in the state’s response to drought conditions.

Governor Parson is encouraging Missourians to submit information about local drought conditions to the U.S. Drought Monitor.  DNR has also established a page on their website listing drought resources.
