O’Laughlin Explains Senate Inaction During Veto Session

Earlier this month state legislators met in Jefferson City for the annual veto session. The House voted to override 14 of Governor Mike Parson’s vetoes to this year’s state budget, but the Senate declined to take any action. Senate Majority Leader Cindy O’Laughlin of Shelbina explains why.

O’Laughlin adds that decision came after discussions across the entirety of the Senate.

Among the veto overrides the Senate didn’t take action on were pay raises for the Missouri State Highway Patrol and additional training and equipment for Missouri Task Force 1. The overrides required a two-thirds majority in both chambers.
