State Representative Danny Busick says the Missouri Nuclear Clean Power Act would allow for the nuclear plant in Callaway County to expand by allowing base load forward financing.

The bill would let facilities that can generate 200 megawatts or more to charge for costs associated with construction work in progress. Busick says encouraging nuclear power would be preferable to investing in solar or wind farms.

John Black of Marshfield is sponsoring House Bill 1684, which has already passed the House, and had a public hearing in the Senate Commerce, Consumer Protection, Energy and the Environment Committee last week.
