Northwestern Superintendent Praises Community’s Response to Train Crash

The Northwestern Schools transported victims of the Mendon train crash to a gym and cafeteria triage Monday. Superintendent Eric Hoyt notes the district also bused passengers to area hospitals.

Amtrak says about 275 passengers and 12 crew members were on board the train headed to Chicago.

Hoyt says several community organizations donated food and water after an Amtrak train struck a dump truck at a crossing near Mendon. Three train passengers and the truck driver died.
