North Shelby Seeks First 8-Man District Title

In its third straight appearance, North Shelby is seeking its first 8-man football district championship when it hosts St Paul Lutheran Friday. The Raiders fell to Southwest Livingston in the district title game the last two years. This year’s squad is 11-0 and coming off a 66-14 win over Northwest (Hughesville) in the semifinals. Coach David Stuckey was impressed with how his team performed after a lengthy layoff.

Cale Stoneburner leads the charge with 901 passing yards and 853 rushing yards for 23 total touchdowns. Justin Lunsford has 979 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns. North Shelby’s defense holds opposing teams to 12 points per game. Stuckey says St Paul’s blocking schemes will present a challenge.

St Paul Lutheran coach CJ Gifford says his team is young and exceeding expectations.

Jayden Maggert leads the team with 718 rushing yards, 484 receiving yards, 10 receiving touchdowns and 137 tackles. Sophomore quarterback Christian Bobzin is a Mizzou baseball commit and has 1,362 passing yards. Gifford shares his thoughts on North Shelby.

The winner of this game will face the winner of Worth County vs East Atchison in the state semifinals. You can hear St Paul Lutheran at North Shelby on KTCM with pregame starting at 5:45. Brandon Monty and Austin Ward will have the call.
