North Shelby Moving to the Lewis and Clark Conference

North Shelby’s time as an independent is set to end. The Raiders will officially join the Lewis & Clark Conference in the 2024-25 school year. They will be a probationary member of the conference for the upcoming athletic seasons. Athletic Director Scott Gaines says it was a sensible decision to join the L&C.

North Shelby had been an independent since 2016 following the fall of the Tri-Rivers Conference. The school’s football team also made the switch to eight-man football that year. Gaines says the shift to eight-man in the Lewis & Clark is beneficial to them.

Paris is joining fellow Lewis & Clark conference members Knox County and Schuyler County in eight-man football this season. North Shelby has scheduled many L&C schools in various sports in recent years. Gaines says those games will mean a little more going forward.

While North Shelby joins the Lewis & Clark as a full member for the 2024-25 school year, the league will lose Marceline, Fayette, and Harrisburg to conference realignment.
